Progression:
Most universities offer degrees in Media Studies. Students might like to embark on a course that offers a general media degree, or one that is more specialised and focuses on a particular area of media work – e.g. journalism, television, scriptwriting, photography, media technologies. Some universities offer a degree with a broad-based year 1 foundation course before offering media specialisms in Years 2 and 3. Students who do not wish to go to university might consider a one-year professional course such as the NCTJ pre-entry Certificate for Journalists, or the City and Guilds certificate in Television and Video Competences.

The course is staffed by a team of lecturers and technicians who are experts in a variety of media fields.
The media centre resources include: 3-camera television studio, a audio/video edit suite with Final Cut Studio Pro digital editing software, a sound-recording and radio production studio with Cool Edit Pro and Sonar digital sound editing facilities, two radio studios with a computer based playout system, sound and film acquisition equipment for loan to students, Mac and PC print facilities.
